The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Dalhousie University has an opening for a specialist in general obstetrics and gynaecology. The successful candidate will possess an FRCSC, and have experience in operative laproscopy. The preferred candidate will have an interest in the treatment of vulvar disease and/or sexual medicine.
This position is located in the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The IWK provides tertiary care service to the women of the Maritime Provinces.
This is a full-time appointment reporting to the Department Head. Academic rank will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the University academic program by contributing to the Department's educational program, assuming administrative responsibility and providing clinical care. DIRECTOR, PERINATAL EPIDEMIOLOGY RESEARCH UNIT
The Departments of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Pediatrics at Dalhousie University and the IWK Health Centre are seeking applicants for a faculty position as the Director of the Perinatal Epidemiology Research Unit (PERU). This position is a tenure-track, full-time faculty position with primary appointments in both University Departments (50% in each Department). The Director of PERU will lead and coordinate the Unit in line with the missions of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the Department of Pediatrics.
This position offers opportunities to pursue active research programs focused on the perinatal or relevant areas. Scientists affiliated with the Unit will have access to a population-based perinatal database as well as hospital admission and separation database, physician services database and other clinical and administrative databases. The successful candidate will be encouraged to engage in collaborative research projects with other faculty in the Dalhousie academic community. The environment is highly favourable for conducting clinical and population-based epidemiologic research. The position requires active involvement in teaching residents, fellows and medical students. A cross-appointment with the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology will provide opportunity for graduate student supervision and teaching.
Academic qualifications include a PhD degree in Epidemiology or related area and ideally experience in perinatal health research. Experience in using large databases for research is preferred. Academic rank and remuneration will be commensurate with experience.
